CP 6 works involved rehabilitation works covering 14 District Metered Areas (DMAs) of Lusaka to reduce non-revenue water to about 25%. These works included strengthening water meter management protocols, replacement of approximately 107 km of worn-out portions of the water distribution pipe network, installation of 32,500 new water meters, replacement of about 780 km of failed consumer water connections and improvement in water production measurements and customer billing records. The works also included the installation of bulk water meters for system-wide measurements and isolation valves to create a total of 35 DMAs in Lusaka. The DMAs provide for proper operation and management of water supply resources leading to better efficiencies and increased revenues.

This sub-projectis developing infrastructure that will help LWSC reduce water loss and associated Non-Revenue Water NRW which was recorded as 45% at the start of the project in 2013. The scope of work includes replacement of obsolete portions of the LWSC distribution network,creation  of Discrete Metered Areas (DMAs) for better operational management, provision of customer meters, installation of system meters. The contract was signed on 16th October 2022. This work is being executed in 14 townships of Lusaka namely Chelston, Avondale, Mwambula, Chudleigh, Northmead, Rhodespark, Matero, Marapodi, Chawama, Kabwata Estates, Kabwata Site & Service, Chilenje South, Town Centre.
